MONTELLA: “WE SHOWED WE KNOW HOW TO SUFFER”
Boss Montella after the match: “This win is for Conti”. Also Kalinic spoke to Milan TV.
Following the 2-1 win over Udinese at San Siro, Vincenzo Montella shared his analysis of the game with Milan TV. These were his words:
ON THE TEAM'S BALANCE
“Today we played a good match, we played well together, although we could have put the game to bed earlier. I am pleased with the boy’s attitude and their reaction, they showed they know how to suffer. We take home the 3 points and we gained more experience. What I liked the most was the reaction after the goal conceded. After making a mistake, which can always happen, we bounced back with great character and the right temper. It was definitely the best thing about the match because we could have lost our focus but we didn’t.
“Nikola gave a superb performance in every aspect of the game, and he is not even at 100%. He scored and helped the team. I feel sorry because André Silva didn’t play but he will have many more opportunities.
“Today was a difficult game for Suso, there weren’t spaces between the lines. Tactically wasn’t easy but I am sure he will do fine playing in this position. I liked a lot Cutrone, I was expecting him to perform well. It has been a positive afternoon overall.
“Nowadays when we score I wait a while before celebrating… There could still be improvements on the use of VAR because the intensity always drops while waiting for a decision.
DEDICATING THE WIN TO CONTI
“This win is for Andrea. He is following us closely and wanted to come today. We are looking forward to seeing him at Milanello and continue to support him”.After the game, the Man of the Match also spoke to Milan TV. These were the words form Nikola Kalinic:
“I am very happy for scoring a brace, it was a great win. I don’t focus on who scores, I only care if AC Milan win. We have to continue this way and prepare for Wednesday because it will be tough”. On the team: “We have a fantastic team and everyone wants to win. However this is just one game, we have to continue the hard work because there is still a long way to go”. On the Europa League: “It could be our objective, we are so many new players and it could help us to improve. If we try hard enough we can win it”. Following the Croatia international, it was Franck Kessie the next to address the media:
“The fans were the ones to help me, they have given me strength and courage to keep running throughout the whole match. The fans are very important to me, and this is just the beginning. I am sorry I missed the second chance we had to score, I could have done better”. On his physical condition and the new system: “I am already looking forward to facing Spal. I’ve already played last year in a 3-man system and also with Cesena. To me, it’s the same”. https://www.acmilan.com/en/news/intervi ... -to-suffer
