Coach Gattuso spoke to Milan TV in exclusive ahead of the TIM Cup Round of 16 at San Siro
AC Milan v Hellas Verona is our first meeting in TIM Cup, a single leg match defined by the boss as a “must-win” clash. It’s a different competition but just like against Bologna, the Red and Blacks have the only objective to bring the victory home and qualify for the next round. On the eve of the Coppa Italia Round of 16, Rino Gattuso spoke to Milan TV in exclusive about tomorrow’s game at San Siro at 8.45 PM.
HELLAS VERONA IN TIM CUP "We want to go through the next round, we must, even if it will be a tough game. Squad rotation? We are considering the physical condition of some of our players. Let’s see after today’s training session. At the moment, the 4-man defence gives us more security, but we are giving too much space to our opponents. We still have a lot to work on and improve.
OUR FANS’ GREAT SUPPORT "Victories give you great awareness, intensity and desire. We needed to win against Bologna, and although we managed, we still have to improve a lot. Our fans gave us a great hand last Sunday, they know how to create a fantastic atmosphere. Through victories, we have to encourage our fans to continue supporting us. I want to thank all of them for their great support so far. As regards to our players, they are training very hard and giving their all.
OTHER TALKING POINTS "The Europa League draw? Our full focus in on Hellas Verona right now. Then we will think about Ludogorets. They may not have a winning history but they have plenty of talented players who are technically strong. We will have the advantage of facing them after a two-month break in their competition. The VAR? It was necessary. It could have been used at Benevento when Romagnoli made an assertive tackle but never touched the opponent. Donnarumma is fine. He is very involved in the games and gets upset when we don’t win. From my side, I have no issues with him”.
