Serie A winter break moved for 2017-18

The 2017-18 Serie A season will run from August 20 to May 20, but the winter break will be postponed to January.

The decision was made in today’s Lega Serie A meeting between the 20 top flight clubs.

Italy Coach Giampiero Ventura had been hoping to begin the campaign on August 13, giving the teams more competitive games before the September 2 showdown with Spain.

Instead, the season will begin on August 20, 2017 and end on May 20, 2018.

The big change is that the Winter break will be postponed to January.

That’s because there will be Serie A rounds on December 23 and December 30, then the traditional January 6 games to mark public holiday La Befana.

After that, no more top flight matches until January 21.

There will also be three midweek rounds on September 20, October 25 and April 18.

Luckily , the Lega Serie A begins adapting to other foreign leagues. Indeed , during the christmas holidays the fans will be happy to watch the matches , and the players won't go on holiday like every season. Then , Ventura hasn' t reason to begin the 2017/18 season earlier because many teams will be involved in Champions League or in Europa League playoff.
What about the calendar of Tim Cup 2017 /2018 ? Where can I find it ?

Milan doctor Daniele Tognaccini has prepared a new, modern Milan Lab for next season with motto "Prevention is better than cure". It has yet to be approved by Fassone. [CorSport]

can we do both friendly tourney and preliminaries ?

I do want us back in europe, but I fear it might backfire. I'd rather have us finish the 17-18 season in 3rd place while outside of europe than 5th while reaching the EL semi-finals
EL will probably earn us less than summer friendlies and it will tire our players during the season. (it might give us a bit of a popularity boost in the eyes of our summer targets but not much)

ATM we have no starting XI and no bench, I can see us building a decent starting XI but I don't know if we can also build a bench that can handle both Serie A and EL.

This is certainly a valid point. I'm willing to take the risk, though. About time we get used to playing mid-week Euro matches again.
